  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from EastBæ -- reading is an admirable indulgence : Kindle version is (so far) not blemished by errata/typos. Nathaniel Hawthorne adroitly depicts intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships with humanistic insight and a sense of humor still quite capable of evoking laughter. If you can make time to read this story, please try to find a place to do so away from rush hour traffic. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2019 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gary R Coder -- Transcendental Romance : Hawthorne’s less frequently read, but beautifully written novel. As Miss Prism says in The Importance of being Earnest, the good end happily and the bad unhappily, for that is the nature of fiction. ( Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2019 )
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars from kristine bender -- Twists! : Stay with the story til the last page as there are a few good twists in the story line that really pull everything together!!! Great classic ( Reviewed in the United States on September 27, 2017 )

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from ASIC Engineer -- Slow going, old fashioned text : I bought the book because the story is based on Hawthorne's time at Brook Farm, which happens to be down the street from where I live and it did have several interesting passages that described the local area. However, I'm not sure that I could really recommend the book to someone who was just looking for an interesting or enjoyable book to read. ( Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2013 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Leona Simmonds -- One Star : Very hard to get into book gave up. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 17, 2015 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Stephany Aiken -- Can't review the literature, since the book was printed ... : Can't review the literature, since the book was printed in such small font that it was unreadable. Pocket sized should have been in the description. My first book complaint. ( Reviewed in Canada on October 24, 2016 )
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars from Emma -- Condizioni imperfette dell'articolo : La spedizione è avvenuta con estrema precisione ma all'apertura del pacco il libro( come gli altri nella confezione) era usurato. In condizioni quasi pessime. Deludente. ( Reviewed in Italy on March 5, 2018 )
